- Your kids love to laugh!
FAQ: Kids Comedy Magic Shows with Kenny
What sort of magic tricks does the kids’ comedy magic show come with? Kenny will use a variety of clown gags (think rubber chickens, toilet plungers, and whoopie cushions) plus classical magic props (cards, velvet bags, linking rings) so every trick is both funny, and magical!
Who is coming to my party? The kids comedy magic show is always with Kenny. This original show was created by combining his life-long love of clowning, and decades of disciplined learning from magicians all over the US.
Can the magician come in a costume? Absolutely! Kenny’s costume options include a colorful clown, a wonderful wizard, a silent mime, a silly pirate, a Christmas elf, and more! When you ask for a quote, our office will provide you with a list of costumes he currently has.
Can the magician entertain both boys and girls? Yes! Sometimes people think Kenny’s show is only for boys, but that is absolutely not the case. Kenny’s show is for all children.
What do I need to set up? Kenny needs to be either indoors or (if outdoors) under shade like a tent. He’ll need one long table for his show. For small audiences that’s all he needs, but for audiences of over 50 children, the client should plan to provide a microphone.
How much does the kids magic show cost? It depends on the event and package. When you ask our office for a quote, they’ll send you several options at different price points for your party.
What towns do you service? We’re a New England-wide company. Kenny is based in CT but travels to MA, RI, VT, NH, and ME regularly because of the growing demand for his kids’ comedy magic shows!
How To Book a Comedy Magician for Kids Party CT, MA, RI, NH
Logistical, Magical Challenges (And How To Solve Them)
The biggest problem we’ve seen with booking a magician for a kids party is not being prepared.
First off, no matter the size of your party, kids need to see and hear the magician. If you’re party will go past dusk outdoors OR will have a DJ, please make sure to section off the area where Kenny will be under lighting (or indoors) and away from any large DJ areas (unless your DJ is planning to mic the magician).
Preparing the Area for a Small Kids Party
For his magic show “stage” in your home or venue, Kenny will need an area around 4′ x 10′ with a table. There should be additional room for kids to shit on chairs or on the floor.
If you’re booking your magician for a kids party with less than 20 children, you’re also more than likey going to want to book some face painting and/or balloon twisting time with Kenny. For that, Kenny can use the same table you gave him for his magic show, but will need 2 additional chairs for face painting (and won’t need chairs for balloon twisting).
Preparing the Area for a Larger Event
Depending on the size of your event, you may want to provide a stage and/or sound for your magician. Kenny has a LOUD voice and can bring a portable mic, but for events over 40 children we strongly suggest a microphone (which we do not provide as we do not currently do sound/lighting engineering).
An Interview with Kenny: Comedy Magician for Kids Parties in CT, MA, and RI
How did you become a magician for kids parties?
I started as a clown! I worked at a summer camp for years and they were putting on a carnival at the end of the season. I was asked to dress up as a clown, thought it would be fun, and within a few years I turned it into a career!
What makes your comedy magic show stand out from other magicians?
First, I would best describe my show as “stand up comedy” for kids. The focus is on making kids laugh, and the magic helps with that goal.
After that, I would say it’s the energy. Because my background and passion is clowning, what I do is a lot less subtle than entertainers who start off as magicians. I love a high-energy group of kids!
So do you got to every party as a clown?
Nope! If you want me to come as Kenny the Clown I’d love to–that’s how I’m most often booked by clients. But I can also go as a pirate, wizard, and a whole bunch of other characters.
